Edgar Rene Jaramillo was born and raised in New York City. Mr. Jaramillo's operatic singing experience began with supporting roles at companies such as Family Opera, Henry Street Settlement and the Amato Opera. His talent was quickly recognized and encouraged by many artists, conductors and directors, such as Maestro Maurizio Arena, Maria Chiara, Virginia Zeani, Maestra Enza Ferrari, Roberto Fabbriciani and Maestro Elio Battaglia, in Europe and USA.
Although his vocal and performance experience is still expanding, it is becoming increasingly clear that Mr. Jaramillo possesses all the desirable qualities of a spinto tenore in the best tradition of Italian opera. It is especially with the verismo repertoire and the operas of Puccini that Mr. Jaramillo has established an affinity. His singing of Cavaradossi in Tosca, or Luigi in Il Tabarro, and other popular roles such as Rodolfo in La Boheme, is establishing Mr. Jaramillo as an up-and-coming voice to be reckoned with.
Edgar Jaramillo's recent performances include Rodolfo in La Boheme with Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Luigi in Il Tabarro with Brooklyn Conservatory, and Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera with Brooklyn Repertory Opera.
Mr. Jaramillo was a finalist of the EPCASO (Enzio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera) national auditions and participated in training in Italy. He is a Master in Music Education candidate at New York University from which he has earned a B.S. in Music Education.
